Cree officially announced the commercial mass production of the industry's ultra-high density (Extreme Density) XLamp XD16 LED. The XD16 lumen density can reach 5.5 times the Cree's previous generation high power LED lumen density. Based on Cree's groundbreaking NX technology platform, the XD16 combines breakthrough lumen density, low optical loss, excellent thermal management and ease of system manufacturing to enable a wide range of applications including road lighting, industrial lighting, and flashlights. Cree's new XD16 delivers incredible high-light output in a very small package. The XD16's breakthrough lumen output and peak intensity will make a significant difference for Black Diamond outdoor mountaineering headlights. Compared with the existing product design, the XD16 can help us achieve better beam control design, reduce the overall size of the headlights, and reduce the weight of the headlights.

The XD16 lumen density can reach 284 lm/mm2, which is currently commercialized in mass production with a very high lumen density rating.
